A Look Inside Lockheed Martin Canada MST; Company Hosts Open House For New Facility
OTTAWA, ON – Lockheed Martin Canada Mission Systems and Training (LM Canada MST) welcomed the Ottawa community to an open house on March 12, 2015, showcasing the capability of its new facility on Palladium Drive in Kanata. The Canadian headquarters for the LM Canada MST business division of Lockheed Martin Canada outgrew its facility on Solandt Road in Kanata. The Ottawa sites had been operating out of that building since 1994 as well as two offsite warehouses for the past six years.
More than 200 guests including customers, industry organizations, community groups, local businesses, and employee families were in attendance to tour the new building and learn about the exciting work and key capabilities honed in the facility. City of Ottawa Councillor Marianne Wilkinson was also in attendance. Students from All Saints High School and Glebe Collegiate FIRST Robotics groups, sponsored by LM Canada MST, were invited to be part of the program with an engaging robot demonstration. The teams presented the robots they had built for a national competition.
Rosemary Chapdelaine, Vice President and General Manager of LM Canada MST, said “As the new neighbour in the area, we wanted to officially introduce ourselves and offer a unique chance to tour the new facility and learn about what we do. This move represents our commitment to growing our business and creating enduring industrial capability in Canada – we wanted to celebrate this milestone with our community.”
LM Canada MST’s new home better positions the business to accommodate its growth strategy. With 109,000 square feet of modern, state of the art facilities, the move consolidated much needed office, laboratory, storage, and manufacturing space under one roof. The company completed significant renovations to the building from September to December, ensuring the building would support its operations.
Chapdelaine concludes, “Our new facility allows for future flexibility and continued growth. I am looking forward to growing our teams and effectively using the increased space and resources this building offers.”
